Life in Malawi

Malawi has crap internet. I’ve wanted to write for forever, but it’s impossible!!! My head’s been at a strange place while I’ve been here, but I’ve met so many people I’ve met before on my trip, and a new trio of guys who’re a lot of fun. Came to Lilongwe on Monday 2nd of May. Didn’t like it too much, and went to Cape Maclear on Wednesday. Walked into the bar at my camp, and saw this Israeli couple I knew I’d seen somewhere before. Turns out, I met them in Botswana. Next thing I know, Alyssa walks in (remember Alyssa? From Kenya and Zanzibar). Alyssa and I go for dinner, and when we sit down, this girl walks in. I go “AMY!” she goes “JULIE!”. So Amy from Livingstone (Zambia), and her friend were having some holiday in Malawi before they go back to Ireland. They sit down with us, and tell this guy at the bar to come over. Alyssa “Hi, I’m Alyssa, nice to meet you”. Him “Hi, I’m Nick”. Me “Hi, I’m ...” Nick “JULIE! How are you??” I was lost, but turns out I met him in Botswana as well. Crazy. I have to point out that there were only about ten white people in all of Cape Maclear at this point. Low season. Next day most of them left, and three new guys showed up. Kevin and Vince from Canada, and Tom from England. Which is who I’ve been hanging out with ever since. We went kayaking at Cape Maclear, got from Cape Maclear up to Nkhata Bay in 11 hours (which is probably a new record without your own vehicle), hung out at Nkhata Bay, went to watch fisheagles, and took the bus for 10 hours back to Lilongwe. Puh.
Cape Maclear. We kayaked around that island!!
